Does Switching From Blogspot Domain To Custom Domain Increase Adsense Revenue?

It is a tricky question, but I will try to give you an answer from my site’s perspective. I am an adsense publisher since June 2012, my blog www.morldtechgossips.blogspot.com has been online for about 2 years. My blog gets about 100 unique visitors on an average per day. So I thought I would monetize it.

I was always on the lookout for tips and tricks to improve my blog. So I read a lot of articles written by experienced bloggers. All of them, well most of them were talking about the importance of custom domain on the perspective of alexa ranks and stuffs. Yes, traffic is the blood of your blog and you need them. But what I want to know was, whether switching to custom domain from blogger subdomain will increase my cost per click.

Eventually I bought a custom domain www.morldtechgossips.com for $10 from blogger. My new custom domain was up and running by September 9.

Yes, mate it is a sad story, I still earn lesser amount than I earned on my blogspot domain. So my verdict is that, switching from blogspot subdomain to custom domain won’t necessarily increase your adsense revenue unless you increase the traffic by a huge margin. Please let me know by commenting, if you think otherwise. For more information you can read my 'Never Revealed Blogger Tips' I learned through my years of experience in blogging. Blogger no longer provides custom domain registration.

Induction Cooking Vs LPG, The Real Facts

Is Induction cooking much cheaper than LPG? Everybody needs an answer and rightly so. After reading this article, you will be able to make out for yourself. Induction cooktops haven’t yet conquered our kitchens completely but they still have a significant role. Before going into the review of various induction cookers available in the market, you should show some patience to really calculate the expenses.

The biggest issue is the ever rising price of LPG cylinders. A few years back LPG cylinders were the best for fast and efficient cooking. The rising prices have turned the tables now. I pay Rs.450/cylinder in my state. To add to the misery, the government has now reduced the no. of subsidized cylinders to 6 per year. That means, if you want more than 6 cylinders per year, you will have to pay a jaw dropping Rs.900/cylinder. Talk about kitchen budget.

Now let us analyze the LPG needs for an average middle class four member family. Here I am taking my family as a reference scale. Before having an induction cooktop, our LPG cylinder lasted for about 2 months. We are lucky to have a decent sized backyard, so we also use firewood rather than depending entirely on LPG. I think we used to use 80% LPG and 20% Firewood

Now let us analyze the usage after buying an induction cooker. Ours is a Cookmate induction cooker which I bought for about Rs.5000 three years ago. Ever since an induction cooktop was introduced into our kitchen we split the usage to 40% Induction Cooker, 40% LPG and 20% Firewood. Our induction stove uses about 1 unit of electricity every day on average. The price for 1 unit of electricity in Kerala is Rs.6 (for my usage slab). So that makes Rs.180/month spent on electricity for induction cooking.

Since the introduction of induction cooktop, our LPG usage went down to 1 Cylinder/6 months from 1 Cylinder/2 months. 1 LPG cylinder in my state costs around Rs.450. If I wasn’t using my induction cooker, I would have to spend Rs.225/month on LPG for cooking. Since the split usage of induction cooker, I have to spent Rs.255(180 on induction cooking + 75 on LPG)/month on cooking. Actually I am loosing Rs.30 more with the use of induction cookers. Yes, that is the sad part. Everybody had a belief that induction cooktops were supposed to save a lot of money, unfortunately not, especially with the rising electricity charges.

How much money you will save with your induction stove entirely depends the electricity tariff in your locality. My Electricity tariff is Rs.6/unit which doesn’t help me save any money. But if I was in a state where the charge is less than Rs.6/unit, I should be saving some money.

So what should we do to save money on cooking? The answer is to start using firewood more. But using firewood isn’t an option for city dwellers. It was actually a shocking discovery to find out that my induction cooker is making me lose more money. But I still continue using my induction cooker, because it is the fastest and efficient way of cooking available now. The positive side is that, if the government increases LPG price, I will start saving money once again, even if the increase in LPG price is as less as 10%.

If you are looking forward to buy an induction cooktop, you should do some research to know the best and also the cost. I am not trying to give you any reviews, but I can give you some tips which might help. My induction cooker is Cookmate which I bought for Rs.5000 about 3 years ago. I had no issue with it till now. I have seen Prestige and Pigeon induction cookers create problems for my friends. I am not criticizing those brands, the longevity of your device depends on how you use it. You should clean the cooktop after every use, don’t leave food residues on it. You should cover the stove with some cloth after use. It will prevent cockroaches and other insects from entering the inside part of the induction cooker. In most cases, issues are short circuits caused by insect invasion. So deal with that.

Now about the cost of induction cookers. The costs have come down in the recent years. If you need a good brand, you still have to pay around Rs.4000. Brands like Philips and Morphy Richards have some classy ones for that price. If you are after those cheaper ones, you may get one for around Rs.1500, but no guarantee is assured.
